o, My shipping company has sent me some information on shipping, and imagine my surprises when I saw this "All 100 Volt appliances are strictly prohibited". From what I read on this forum, it appears many in the past has brought some 110v appliances with them, though many of the posts I read are few years. Has there been a change in the law? Has anyone in the past year or so shipped any small 110v appliances? Any issue? Thanks, Skyblue.

Hi Skyblue,
Be sure to ask your recruiter for the updated rules.

They are now confiscating 110V appliances at the borders. The new Aramco housing units are all 220V only and the old homes on the camps are being converted to 220V.

Off camp, it's all 220 V. On camp, at least from what I saw in Munirah, it's 110V, and maybe 220V elsewhere on camp.

Hi all..
Moving soon to Dhahran with family. Since most compound are furnished, likely to bring over only essential and buy when in Kingdom. Are the electronics and electrical appliances (i.e. TV, computers, HiFi etc) expensive relative to say in EU?

Have a look at www.extrastores.com/en-sa/ for prices of various electronics. You can also buy in many of the larger supermarkets, and other stores, but this one has a usable website! It should give you a good idea. "Furnished" is vaiable depending on the compound - we were provided with kettles, microwaves, tv's etc
