So what's the point of Aramco contacting your current employer after you've already given your notice? What would happen would the employer say something unfavorable about you? I'm sure that does happen, as some employers might be angry that you're leaving.

There is option you can restrict them to contact your current employer

Am I reading the background correctly (quoted below)? Seems you have option for employer not to be contacted prior to hiring but will be contacted directly after you resign. No idea the purpose or how this will be possible. Expat1 if you accepted offer did they contact employer after you joined Aramco?
"It is policy of Saudi Aramco to contact the HR department of your CURRENT employer. If you do not wish Saudi Aramco to contact your current employer, please indicate this at Question 7E. If you tick NO to Question 7E indicating you do not want your current employer contacted, verification of current employer by other means will be required (e.g. Pay-Slips, bank statements, work email, references etc.) DIRECT contact will be made with your current employer POST-HIRE."
