o All, This is my first post as I embark on this epic journey - I'm currently on the BI and medical/visa stage after two successful interviews and being furnished with an amended offer (still not what I was expecting but overall package much better than the 40% tax I currently pay). I'm from London and will hopefully travel with my two young kids and wife if all goes to plan. I'll provide a more detailed time line once everything is confirmed (touch wood). Due to the housing crisis in the compounds at Aramco, I have been requested to sign a form to clearly show my acceptance of a non-compound housing with RAA until such period a compound housing can be provided. The only advantage I see with compound living compared to the outside is you can send your kids to Aramco schools if you live on the compounds and they are supposed to be the best schools in the country? My question regarding the Rental Assistance Allowance (RAA) are : 1. Is this paid in cash on a monthly/annual basis? 2. Is the max paid i.e. for family on Global GC 11+ at max RAA ~$60K? Or based on actual rental and if so then I would expect one to get the 'best bang for their buck'? I ask because it's a case of either living lavishly or saving as much as you can depending on whether cash is paid or max paid based on actual rental. I could certainly ask my Relocation Advisor but wanted to start my first thread and participate in this great forum. All the best , Yamaaan Save

Rent usually due Annually, and our RAA is paid in one lump sum. You will get the amount paid up to the level of your invoice, or the max in your RAA. You cannot get a cash benifit from this allowance by living in a cheap unit.
Quality schooling is really hard to secure. Both British schools have, I believe, closed their waiting lists for September.
The facilities and freedom on the Aramco camp are certainly a very attractive selling point. However more and more Aramcons are living off camp, and it hasn't been a problem for us - but I've not got camp living to compare it to!!
We live off the Aramco compound, but still in a compound. Some people choose to also live off all compounds - and you can certainly get a very big house within RAA if this is a route you choose.

Hi Swan,
Thanks a million for your response! Regarding the RAA, I never recieved a clear response from the recuiter or the the Relo Adviser but this settles it now, so greatly appreciated once again (most of the posts seem to be ......... back to 2015 which I'm reviving as it's the same queries that I have).
I'v began my house hunting in the Dharaan area (where I'll be based) and there's one location with nice apartments and nearby all the major schools, so if stil. l available in the next couple of months (who knows how long it will take to get official confirmation of BI being finished and medical/visa), I'll certainly give them a call to get more info.
Schooling still remains a big challenge.
Cheers

Hi, Just reading this on the RAA, and as I am now in a similar position to that of Yamaan back in April, I'm curious on what exactly happens with the RAA. The Relocation Guide says that the Rental Assistance Allowance is given to Single, Bachelor & Family status male employees. These allowances are provided as a lump-sum payment. No receipts, documentation, or proof of lease agreement is required - that to me says that every year you get, 3 x monthly base salary paid into your account! Is this how it is?

Hi everybody, Can anyone please tell me, what is the situation now in terms of available houses in the Aramco's Dhahran compound? My husband has just received his offer and I will accept going if we live in the Aramco compound and not any other. I know it is difficult to guarantee we will have it so I would like to know if anyone knows about the availability at the moment?
Thank you
