I've poured over this forum since my husband has been interviewing for an engineering position. Thanks to everyone who has contributed over the years! I have learned so much about life w/Aramco. I noticed there had been a waitlist for DHA housing and that a new development was *scheduled* to be complete in 2017, but I haven't found any recent posts. Any updates? Do new hires still tend to be placed in temporary housing first? (We are a family of 5.) Thanks!

The first section of the new housing section in Dhahran has opened. The houses were put up for bid by current residents. Families are moving in. The houses those families have left have to be renovated, which is slow, before some else can get the house through bidding or assignment to newbies. Housing assignments are made the week of your arrival and it depends on what is available for move in at that time. You may not chose which housing you receive. You can get on the bid list and try for other housing after 2 or 3 years. Although, there will be lots of people a head of you with more points. People can be on the bid list for years and never get a different house.
The new housing area is called Jebal Heights.
