I worked for SA for a little over 5 years (left June 2013). I passed a phone screen interview this week and have a face to face in a couple weeks in Houston in order to get back.
If I get the job, will my years of service pick up where I left off?
If I receive an offer, I will ask the recruiter but kind of anxious to know now.
BTW, We are very excited about the possibility of returning!! Should have never left, although I’ve heard it has changed a bit since we left.

No, I don't believe so. The RIP changed in October 2013. I believe anyone who hires back now starts over.

Things have changed. It is not the Aramco of the past, just different. Once you are here, you will have to go in person and check with HR to find out if you can bridge your years of service after you've worked enough to do so, if that option is still available.

Vpainter, the difference good or bad - I realize the challenges from long-term low oil prices and new country leadership has caused these changes at Aramco and KSA itself (they had to adjust!); however, we are hoping the tightknit friendly expat community in Dhahran is still intact, if we make it back? Although still several friends there, I also realize there would be lots of new faces and friends we would have to make after being gone four years.

Your expat family is still here and makes living here great! The differences are different not necessarily good or bad depending on your atude. Some people see the changes as bad, they do not want change; others see the changes as ok, just different. Its an adventure.

Cowboy, you can possibly bridge service years. I suggest you negotiate with ASC prior to accepting/flying out, if they agree, have them put it writing. I'm just concerned that it might be too late to ask for bridging once in DH.

My service was bridged on rehire after the RIP changes kicked in. Make sure you have a letter in hand before you leave. Your benefit age will be 55, not 50 unfortunately.
