Hi all,
First let me thank the creators of this forum for providing us with an awesome platform, full of useful information about Aramco and life in Saudi.
I have read through a few threads, and although people have raised the issue about living in Bahrain and working for Aramco, I've still not really found a definite answer to this question.
I'm a UK citizen, currently working and living with my wife and kids in Bahrain. I have recently had a face to face interview for a position as an engineer at Aramco. During the interview I was asked if I would be happy to relocate to Saudi or if I would prefer to stay in Bahrain. I said that I would be happy to move to Saudi, if I could be guaranteed accommodation on the Aramco compound, otherwise my wife would probably not want to move and would rather stay in Bahrain. From what I understand, the Aramco compound is reserved for US citizens only, as of December last year. I've also read a few posts where people say that Bahrain is not an option, because Aramco want their employees to live in Saudi. I'm happy to go on a bachelor package, but would really need the rental assistance to make the package worthwhile in Bahrain. Does anyone on this forum know of anyone who has been hired by Aramco who was already living in Bahrain? Would Aramco allow for me to stay in Bahrain because I already live there and my family is settled here.
Many thanks in advance!

Most people applying and accepting jobs are not in Bahrain. You would be working out what's called an exception if they offer you a housing allowance and your family can stay in Bahrain. If you receive a housing allowance, you would probably be commuting each day. You may not be given quarters on camp. This is not a norm, so I cannot tell you what can and cannot be done. See what's offered and then make your choice. Ask for what you want if its not offered, they may agree or not, but then you can make a decision. The Aramco compounds have all nationalities on them. GC and availability comes into the equation when other nationalities are given housing on the compounds.
