Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the forum and feel I might have a few questions as I become familiar with the process.
Ive been offered a conditional offer of employment, and at the moment am undergoing background checks, etc so I assume the road ahead is still a long one before actually arriving in SA.
Some basic questions so far:
1. I will be headed over on family status, and been told that I will arrive alone at first and once present in SA I will be submitting the documentation for my family to join. I have been told to expect a 3 month wait time on this, and wanted to gauge whether anyone had undergone this process before, and what the wait times were for you.
2. I will not be living on an Aramco compound and will have access to Rental Assistance. I realize that compounds will differ in price, but wondering if there is a "ballpark" figure on what to expect to pay on a 3 bedroom townhouse/ villa (preferable choice) in a decent compound (near the Dammam area). We are not thinking luxury by any means, but somewhere with nice facilities, decent community feel, etc.
This is all for now, and look forward to any advice anyone might be able to provide.
Thanks in advance!

I sent you an email. People have been coming for a good while, employee first, then the family. The process can take anywhere from 2 to 3 months up to 6 to 9 months as the worst case. Most are within 3 months.

Hi all, I also am new to the forum but have been reading it for the last few months and have learned a great deal from everyone's comments. My situation is exactly the same as Protea2016 above. VPainter, if it's not too forward of me, I wondered if the email you sent Protea would also be of help to me and my family? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
Rob

Hey Rob, good to "meet" you.
VPainter - also please feel free to pass on my email to Rob when you email him. Would be good to chat with someone in the same process and perhaps levee off any of the homework one or the other is doing regarding the move.
Thanks!

Originally from South Africa but now living in Canada (if I'm approved will be travelling as a Canadian).
I lived in London for 6 years and worked in Canary Wharf so know your side of the world well.
Still to undergo the medicals but well entrenched within the background check phase now.
Have you undertaken your medicals? What was it like?

I understand the Protea now My brother has just got a working visa to Canada. He's moving next week with his Canadian girlfriend to Toronto. Hopefully you liked London? Well it sounds like you're definitely further along than me at the moment. I'm only just starting background checks, but am doing as much research as I can about compounds, schooling and the usual things! When we get PM permissions as you said we can share any advice we have and keep in touch!

Sounds good Rob,
Don't think I am that much further ahead - background checks only began about 3 weeks ago and does take time.
Anyways, will hold off until we can DM some more...

Hi Guys,
I have recently completed the medical tests in London in Harley Street. It takes about 2 hours. Urine test, blood test and then chest x-ray. Of course lots of questions too!
My background check took 6 weeks. I stepped in and helped my relocation advisor and he wasn't getting an answer from one of the companies that I worked for.
Good luck to the both of you!

Hey ladylondoner
Thanks for the update!
My background check is into week 4 at present with the only thing outstanding so far being my degree attestation (currently in process).
Head to Houston next week for an orientation and the medicals. Have read a few threads on it and sounds like quite a thorough process!
When are you planning to make the move and have you managed to lock in a compound that looks appealing?

Hi Protea2016,
I have just been asked to send my visa to the embassy after which they will then tell me to give my one month's notice.
Looks like I will be leaving in end-November/beginning of December. I know they seem to want to get me there ASAP.
I am staying in Dhahran compound. You?

Sounds like things are going well on your end!
Yup, if selected, I'll be working in Dhahran too...still not sure where I'll be living just yet.
Are you making the move over with any family? If selected, I will be heading over ahead of the family.
