Hi all, I have nearly 20 years in the oil and gas industry with the last 10 as a drilling, completions, workover and well interventions supervisor (Co-Man). I can't for the life of me figure out why I can't get past the interview stage with the organization. Am I not saying the right things? What could I possibly be doing wrong? Every time I interview I'm told it went great, but they have decided on different candidates. My experience started in the galley and I worked my way up to assistant driller, I was giving the opportunity to work as a drilling foreman and I was accepted to do so. My work is exemplary and I've never had a well control issue, I've worked with guys who's claimed to have a lifetime of experience and I've had to save them on numerous occasions. From the drilling and workover sector I began working in completions and loved it. I've worked both conventional and unconventional. It's very heartbreaking to be turned down when I have such great experience. I'm at stand still and really don't know what to do. Any advice or criticism is most welcome. Thank you, Country Oil Man

o Countryoilman You are lucky to get to the interview stage. My husband has the same "all good and perfect" education and experience in his field. He has been applying for last 2 years. Some of the jobs were the exact match. He was not even considered for an interview for any of those jobs. The mobile app for Aramco is a total waste It is never updated. There are jobs listed on the app from years ago ( expired now) Whoever is responsible to update that app, please do so.

WOW!!!! You know while I was in my last interview, the interviewer asked me a question about a particular process, of course I answered with the way we were doing it here in the US and he explained that it was done differently in Saudi. I'm almost sure this is what killed it for me the last time. I do not understand why it's so hard to gain employment abroad. I've been at this for quite sometime. I will not give up though. I have even gone so far as to create additional email profiles to continue applying for the open positions. I just don't get it. I wonder if it's because I don't have an engineering degree, or because I didn't "Push Tools". I worked my way up through the ranks just as many others did, my first job in the oil and industry was washing dishes and my last was as a company man. So if you want to talking about working through the ranks, I think I qualify. For now I will continue to apply, apply, call, call, email, and email. If I'm out of line for being so persistent, then maybe someone within the organization will let me know. LOL !!!! but for now I want to work abroad for Saudi Aramco and I will be as persistent as it takes. Don't give up, keep trying and applying.

Moderated...not censored.
o Countryoilman and welcome to the Aramco Expats Forum.
If you had read the "Frequently Asked Questions...Read Here Before Posting to the Forum" section, you would have read... "If you're a new user, your posts must be moderated and approved before they appear on the forum. This is to prevent spam from appearing on the forum. Moderators remove sometimes dozens of spam posts every day through this method. It makes for a better user experience. If we didn't do this, the forum would be completely clogged with advertisements for medication and health enhancers within a few days. In effect, the forum would be unusable."
Moderators on this forum volunteer our time and we have lives, just like you, outside of hovering over the computer to moderate the hundreds of posts that come in every week...
After you make a sufficient number of useful contributions to the Forum, your posts will no longer require moderation before they appear on the Forum.
We do hope the Forum is a useful tool to you as you navigate the Saudi Aramco hiring process. It would help if you read the FAQ's so you have an understanding of how and why things are they way they are on this Forum.
Again, welcome to the Forum.

Please put yourself on the employer's end. You may have the perfect qualifications, experience, and background. Say, the employer receives 10 resumes who are as perfect as yours. Do you see now what could go wrong under this scenario? It's not you, it's who you're competing with. Your degree might be from Arizona State, someone else's degree might be from NYU. Your experience might be with Murphy Oil, someone else's experience might be with S.......etc. You may have 3 certifications, someone else might have 10.

Yeah, I understand that, but it should be really obvious that I really want to work for the organization. Like I said before I have probably been the most persistent when compared to the others, LOL!!! It's just frustrating when you feel like you're the man for the job and you're turned away. I hope others that are trying to gain employment are having better luck. My wife made the statement " Maybe your career in the oilfield is over, and you should just except it!" That.... I have to say, is/was one of the most heartbreaking statements yet!!! I really love the patch!!! It hasn't always been about the money for me, it has truly been about the growth I've experienced over the years. I don't know anything else. This has been one of the greatest rides ever, if it's over, then I guess at some point I'll have to find some acceptance and move on. Wow!! I can't believe I just said that!!! Boy did I just feel a lump in my throat. stmayo11. Sorry I was a bit frustrated and did not take the time to read the "FAQ" I totally understand and thank you for your time with this site. I love that it's not riddled with spam and "Do you want meet Jenny" advertisements. I'm reading the faq as we speak. Thank you

Countryman, I know applying for a job at Aramco can be frustrating. You are doing the right thing in being persistant. There are testimonials on the forum of how people applied for years and have finally gotten an interview. It takes the right time and the right department to see your resume. Aramco keeps resumes received and people have been contacted years later for an interview. There are set limits to how often you can apply for positions, some users say they have ran into those limits applying frequently. Even if you were interviewed and hired, it could be up to over a year before you are here to work. It is a patience, waiting time. Everyone's timeline is different, everyone of the timelines are normal no matter how much time it takes Until visa is in hand and Aramco says quit your job, everyone must continue to live their life as if they weren't coming, because there are so many stages of approvals to go through. Waiting on the first contact is frustrating, but is part of the process. Best wishes for a successful application.
