o All, First of all I want to congratulate all moderators and users of this forum. It is a great source of information for all newcomers in the big Aramco family. I've been offered a job as a Marine Technical Adviser in Ras Tanura, with family relocation allowance. Looking forward to the next step- meeting with our relocation adviser. I have a big question mark in my mind about my younger son, 11 years old, which can't speak the English language well enough to go to school there. We are currently using the help of a teacher to improve his English, but we are afraid that this will be a big handicap for us in finding a school for him. Did anyone went through this problem and how did you manage to solve it? Is home school an acceptable option for one year, until he will be confident enough to join an English language school? And last, but not least: are there any other Romanian families with or without children , we would be happy to meet and discuss with them. Thanks a lot for the opportunity of sharing and for your replies.

Hi! Congratulations on your offer! Not having a usable knowledge of English will be a problem for schools, but inside Aramco, home schooling is an option. You getting him a tutor is a big plus for him. You can also get him one here to help also. If the hiring process takes a while, he could possibly be ready. The Aramco school will test him for admittance if you are living inside Aramco RT compound. If you live outside the Aramco compound, your son will not be able to go to Aramco Schools. You will need to find an International school for him in the local area. You can go online and lookup International Schools Group in KSA. You would be able to contact them and see if they have English is as a second language courses. There is one in Jubail outside RT.

o All, Thank you, vpainter for the reply. Currently we are looking for a school in Romania with teaching in English language and taking in consideration that at least for one year to keep our son to this school. It is an international school with expat children from many parts of the world and it’s similar with the ones in KSA. Agreed with my wife that she would travel between KSA and RO in such way as to keep our family status and EAP program alive and valid. It will be quite of a challenge, but it’s probably the best way. Thank you for the opportunity of sharing and for the advice. Still waiting for a reply from Romanian employees in ARAMCO. All the best!

DEMS take kids without fluent English, I believe??, if living in Damman/AL Khobar and commuting to Ras Tanura daily (possible. About an hour on a less than pleasant road, or a Aramco bus from Dhahran) is an option. Or would you be getting Aramco housing? www.isg.edu.sa/community-alumni/schools/dems/

o All,
Thank you, Swan, for the useful information. Already started to investigate and sent an email to IGS with a Query. I am sure there are or will be others in the same situation and promise to keep all updated regarding the results. One more time thank you, all users and moderators, for a great source of information!
