I took leave during my probation. A lot of people told me it wasn't allowed in their departments, but I don't think there's a company-wide policy to forbid it.
Ultimately it will be up to your manager and whether or not he'll let you. If he approves it, then I can't see why it would count against your performance review.

If you are allowed to take leave then don't forget that your probation period will be extended by however many days you take. Also remember any public holidays during your probation period do not count toward the total days required. When I arrived I was categorically told no leave to be taken during my probation period but as above I know of others who have been allowed leave.

With probation being extended to 180 days, I cant imagine not being allowed to take some sort of leave during probation.
I have only been around a little over a month and I took 3 days leave over new years without issue.

That's correct. All new hires and re-hires must now clear a 180-day probationary period. Too many people were flying under the radar in just 90 days, only for the company to discover some new hires did not have all of the skills they had claimed. This allows the company more flexibility in releasing those who have stretched their qualifications which occasionally happens here.

I have just completed the 180 day probation. I took 2 periods of leave in that time without any problem. These 22 leave days were NOT added to my probationary period, but the days of the Eid public holidays were. Both Eids count apparently if your probation includes them.. Only a few extra days, not an issue.
