I'm trying to understand a simple driving law. In the U.S. it's legal to turn right at a red light. But I notice most people don't do that on camp. What's the rule on this? Can I turn right on a red light?

You can only turn right on red if there is a yeild sign on the right corner. Otherwise, no right on red on camp.

The company changed the rules on right turns at red lights earlier this year. It was not well publicized and is in the company GI if you look it up. Most people still do not out of habit.

Previously you could not turn right on red but the GI did, in fact, change to be compliant with Saudi law. Unfortunately not everyone in security has read the update so you could get a ticket but it can be reversed. That is no longer a simple process since everything is in SAP now but can be done. If you do get a ticket, go immediately to security and complain and they will fix it. Be polite and don't insist that someone in front of you turn right on red because you are in a hurry. I see that sometimes at gate 4 leaving camp. Old habits die hard. And, although you can turn right at gate 4, it is not a right-turn only lane.

I see the GI related to Traffic and Vehicle Safety (Oct 2015). While there is no explicit rule stating that you can turn right at a red light, there is a penalty for failing to stop before doing it. There is a listing of all the penalty points for various infractions.
One infraction is: Failing to stop for two seconds before turning right on red light.
Looks like right turns at a red light are allowed only after a 2-second stop.

When I took the DIP (company driving course) earlier this year, the instructor told us you can turn right on a red light but you cannot turn right on a red arrow (e.g. when turning right on Steineke St onto D Road, right before Gate 4).
Does that match what anyone else has heard?

That is what I have understood.
