o,
Considering a move on Bachelor status from Aberdeen.
One of the key questions I have is around travel:
1. How many trips back to the UK you would be permitted to take? 2. Can I also use up that leave to see family if they came out to the region (Bahrain/Saudi) say 2/3 times per year?
Generally what is the flexibility? And how often can I feasible see family one way or another. My plan would be say 5 trips home per annum plus them coming out a couple of times....
Also, if there are any engineers, project engineers or project managers around who I could call for a chat that would be much appreciated.
Many thanks!!

Hi LochTay, On bachelor status you will accrue 50 days leave per annum. You are enled to two interim leaves and one full repat per complete year (this is slightly complicated by your arrival date). In order for a leave to be considered interim or repat you must take at least ten L (leave) days per trip ( you will also get two travel days for each of these), so just taking these will burn up at least thirty days of annual leave. Yes you will get extra public holidays on top of your leave allowance but unless you are planning to take quite short breaks you may not have enough leave to go around if you thinking of having seven to eight holidays per year. You also have to consider what department you will be working in, what the cover in there is like, where you are on any leave roster and finally what your boss decides your getting. Some tell you to take all of you leave during your two interims and one full repat others are more flexible. I'm afraid you won't really know until you are here.

Are there any changes on the total leave for employees on bachelor status? I was told only 38 days plus 4 travel days per annum.

Yep it’s now 38 days regardless of your status (bachelors used to get 50). The rest still stands I believe. It ultimately comes down to your manager, as to when you get have leave. Some are flexible, others less so!
Do consider that weekends count as part of your holiday, unless you happen to work at least one day in that week. That’s been explained on here countless times before.
