HI Folks, I'm currently investigating our first car purchase in KSA. I've read all the other threads about buying vehicles, but I still had a couple of questions specific to Toyota. Currently I'm considering the Fortuner or Prado as an off-camp commuter/baby protection fortress, as well as the Corolla as a camp car. I'm wondering if anyone has bought a Toyota recently (mid 2015), and if so would you be willing to share answers to any of these points: - 1. How long did you have to wait for the car to arrive after placing your order? (I am hearing several months).
- 2. Were you able to negotiate on price? Any discount for SA employees?
- 3. Which dealership did you use, and was the experience positive/negative?
- 4. Are the Trim/Option packages you can get actually the same ones listed on the Toyota KSA website? I'm hearing that this isn't necessarily the case...
- 5. Any other gotchas or buyer beware items?
Thanks! cb

Not what you asked for, but it appears that all the cars purchased at local dealerships are first parked right outside of the Rakah compound on their way from Jeddah and spend a night or two before finishing the trip to the dealer.

CB,
I'm in the process of buying a Sequoia now so I can provide you some details. I also looked at the Prado.
1) Delivery time for Prado and Seqouia is 7-12 days depending on the model 2) Price is not negotiable but they give you breaks on some things. Right now there are Ramadan incentives. I believe you get 4 years or 70,000 km free maintenance for Ramadan. 3) I'm working at RT but have been using the Toyota dealership next to Mall of Dhahran. There is only one franchise owner for Toyota in KSA so the price is the same at all showrooms. 4) What you see on the website is pretty much what they offer. You can elect for options such as window tinting, extended warranty, front protective film, undercoating, etc. 5) I'll keep you updated.... You'll need your Iqama and drivers license before you can buy a car. We've rented a car from Majestic for the last 4 months. I'm paying cash for the car but if you intend to finance you'll need to deposit your full salary in a local bank to qualify for a loan.
Hope it helps...

rft - great info, thanks so much!
An interesting side note related to why the price isn't negotiable: A friend bought from Toyota a while ago, and he found their salespeople were pretty 'relaxed' in their customer service. While he was at the dealership buying the car, he asked the Toyota person helping him why this was, and his reply was "We get so many customers, I can sell 9 cars a day sitting at my desk, I don't really need to do much else". Must be nice!
