I had heard a rumour once (urban legend perhaps) that if you want to sell a whole bunch of personal effects at once (retirement, moving area etc) instead of holding a gae sale, there is a person who will come to your house and make you an offer for the whole lot of whatever you have for sale.

If anyone knows of such a person and could proivde their contact details, please send me a PM.

I know what you are talking about and you are right. We changed houses last year and sold a lot of things on the HR classifieds and the guy showed up on my doorstep. I didn't keep his card. If you placed an ad, it is very probable he would find you. I don't believe he likes to pay "fair" value which is why I didn't keep his card.
