Hi all,
been reading through the forum for a few weeks and got a lot of information - thanks for being such a good resource!
Got the offer recently and in a similar situation as many here with kids small in age (7 , 5 and 1) in british school now and trying to find out what makes sense - To come alone or with family .
Schools are a big challenge - looks like there is no way i can get a place for them for 2015-2016 academic year. Even for 2016-2017 , the registration would open early 2016 and there is no gurantee... or does anyone know anything else on this one?
Housing outside of aramco compound seems to be tricky - not many decent options as far as i could see but some options with schools inside (which still does not mean we get the seats) - Sara and Oasis were mentioned couple of times in other posts - but i couldn´t find a website to see some pictures and or check prices.
Health care only in Saudi Arabia - don´t really know how good or bad they are... Saw couple of posts where people got additional insurance to cover them internationally - which shouldnt be a big problem i guess?
Family status with the benefits but with risk of not having school etc. vs. Coming as Bachelor and having to pay for everything for the family at home - Rent+Schools+Insurances+Cost of living etc.
if anyone has recent experiences and/or any comments you can share for the above - it would be great.
thanks Elvir

Elba
After living here for 3 weeks I would add that schooling is a big problem. Don't under estimate it if you are not accepted for Aramco.
Housing outside Aramco you can still find. There are various properties being constructed at the moment but if this is your first time I would strongly recommend to have Aramco housing.
Aramco Health care is OK. Waiting times for GP are more than a month (Around 40 days approx) but if there is an emergency they will deal with it same day.
There are various compounds that are still empty outside Aramco. I will try to post info soon.
Thanks

Hey, we have been told that my husband can go out on his own, but as the rest of the family are planning on coming out as soon as housing and schools are sorted, he can go out family status. Some of the allowances will only trigger fully when the rest of us get out there, and bachelor status allowances will be paid in the first instance. He does loose out on the enhanced bachelor holiday enlement. Might be worth asking your advisor.
Is Sara just for BAE systems, or is it open to all?

Hi Elba I am in the interview process at the moment. I was just wondering how good/bad the new offers are in terms of 1) How much is the rental allowance ARAMCO pays? Is it decent amount to cover rent for camp equivalent accommodation? 2) for school, are the covering the school fees for international schools in KSA? transportation etc? Thanks

Your job must require travel otherwise I dont think Aramco provides a car Also for most schools you need to be here to give entrance exams before they would let you in so not sure how much help it would be to have husband here before the family for school admission.

From UK based research, we think the housing allowance will be OK. Not massively different to the cost of Aramco housing, but we are not 100% on what is included in each price, or of additions required.
Entrance exams sound like our plan won't work, but we are reluctant to pull the kids out of school before we know the possibilities. The school fees again seem to be in the right range, but are limited by your salary, so you'd need to do a bit of research. There seem to be BIG variations between the different schools. That might just be how many extras they will or won't add on tho!

khurshadMy Eastern payroll says Housing Allowance is 3 times of Base pay. Do you have a different payroll or did you negotiate it? I did'nt know I could negotiate over HRA and now I am stuck I am in GC-13 by the way

durlanBased on kurshad's responses (here and on other threads) he is not talking about an Aramco job offer. Aramco does not supply a vehicle as part of your employment contract. Also, if by HRA he means rental assistance allowance (Aramco calls it RAA, not HRA) his figures do not match up with what Aramco offers. From what I can tell, he is probably talking about being hired as a contractor, not as a direct Aramco hire.
