It may be different/awkward question and I thought of asking it in PM but I'm raising it on the general forum as I'm sure some others would have similar question/concern.
Reading through this forum, my understanding is that medical (for US candidates) involves blood, stool, and x-ray for potential employees and only blood test for the spouse. My question is - are there any other required tests including physical exam? I remember taking visa medical for another Saudi employer 5 years ago and it involved full physical exam. Is it the case for Aramco hires for candidate and/or spouse?
Reason for this question is, my relo adviser gave me an option to take orientation/medical remotely or at ASC Houston. She also mentioned that there only 1 male doctor available at ASC but she didn't know the details of medical checks. Now if medical involves physical exam or such, my wife will be much more comfortable going locally to her female GP instead of ASC. But obviously, if it only involves drawing blood we would prefer ASC so we won't have to worry about following up or sending papers back and forth.
I would really appreciate if someone could shed some light on this.

Nomad1234,
I had a full medical/physical exam in Houston at ASC which included all you already mentioned plus a stress test (treadmill 80% for age group) and cardiologist evaluation of results. My wife had only blood draw and chest X-ray.
My better half said to pass along no worries at all for your wife. She will not even need to undress.
Hope to see you in KSA.
Alaskakat.....out.

If I recall correctly, my interaction with the male physician at ASC Houston was as follows:
- checked my heart and lungs with a stethoscope - applied pressure to my hands (any maybe legs? can't remember) to check muscle strength
For me, it was very non-evasive and also very brief. The nurses handled the rest of the testing (which was identical to my husband's, btw).

During my medical in Houston, there wasn't a doctor present at all. It was a nurse drawing blood, performing a TB skin test, and x-ray. The stool collection is done in the privacy of your home before you arrive for the medical. You simply deliver the kit to the nurse.
And remember, when you arrive, there is another blood test during orientation. I believe it is a HIV and blood-type test. Not sure if wives also do this.

Thanks everyone for the feedback.
So I guess it is different for everyone based on the type of work they are hired for (it is still strange that it would be different for spouse i.e. AlaskaKat's wife had X-Ray but others didn't).
bamaster, I thought TB skin test (PPD) involved 2 visits - first where they inject you with protein and then do an observation a couple of days later. Was it all completed on your visit to ASC in a day?

Nomad1234,
I was informed today the medical varies greatly depending on job type. For example a safety sensitive position (Pilots, Ship Captains etc.) have much more stringent medical requirements than School teachers.
Best to find someone in your specific career field and get the scoop on medical requirements and procedures.

Thanks everyone - specially AlaskaKat for detailed information.
To add my own experience as well (I will be in IT and I'm assuming that's standard for all IT positions). It was blood (3 viles), stool, and TB (x-ray and PPD). For wife, it was just blood (2 viles).
By the way, ASC Houston's been closed pretty much all week except for Tuesday due to flooding - have my fingers crossed for any news of visa block.

Good day folks,
I was curious, do you receive the results of the medical exam? It would be nice to have all the information for personal records. The wife and I go for our medicals and orientation next Wednesday.

We had the visa medicals done remotely and the only word I received was the all clear directly from our relocation advisor. We used LabCorp, which usually posts the results to our accounts, but in this case they did not.

Medical options are as follow: 1. Fly to Houston for a night and go through the process at ASC - Aramco will pay for the trip. 2. Ask for a remote medical. ASC will send a list of tests needed to be done and explain the process one needs to follow. All expenses - doctor/lab fee plus travel to medical facilities - will be reimbursed.
Note: Family medical tests - types - are different than employee's tests...family does not have to go through all the tests.
