Hi All: I obtained a lot of useful information on this board. However, I would like to get some specific information on the type (quality/age) of single housing in the main campus. I will be working in the Corporate Planning Department in a GC 15 position. My relocation advisor mentioned to me that I will be going to the main camp in Single housing.
Currently, I live in a 3000 sq ft house as a single person here in Houston. I understand that I will be moving to a 1 bedroom unit and that I will have to downsize. My questions are two-fold. 1 Has anyone seen a typical GC 15 single housing Unit in the main camp? Are they well appointed (granite counters vs Formica, etc)? By Houston standards will you consider them as avee, high end, or fair accommodation? 2 Space …..Not sure how big these units are. Can I assume about 1000 sq ft. in a typical unit? I would like to fit a cal king bed, 3 chest of drawers, night stand, TV stand and bench in the master bedroom. Is this possible from what you have seen/know? Also in the living room, will I have space for 2 sofas, chairs, coffee table, big screen TV etc? Since there is not a gae, is there an external closet/space for a bicycle?
I really appreciate your help/advise on the forgoing. Currently, I have my Visa le, all contingencies are cleared and I expect in the coming week to give my passport for the visa stamp. My target departure date is the first week of June.

Sorry, you will definitely be downsizing, your housing assignment will probably not house all the furniture you wish it would, at least without being crowded. The townhouses have enclosed front patios where you can keep your bike.
Sent you an email.

Dundee I hope you made it safely and I haven't been online in a few years, but wanted to respond in case you are not in kingdom yet. The GC15 is a magical number for housing as you are put on the top of the list ahead of GC14 and below. Thus even though you will temporarily have a housing assignment they will allow you to bid right away and you will have a chance to get a bigger unit within a year IMO. You will have a 700-850 probably to start, but after you will have a shot to bid at 1000-1200 sq ft units with gaes.
I hope that helps from that end.
Aramco standards are formica or corian countertops and certainly the corian are the nicer ones. The tile is for main living areas standard beige and beige carpet in bedrooms. Thus I would say you have a apartment like setting when you move in, what you do with it after makes it a home. Welcome aboard.
