I know that this question has been asked previously. So I searched the forum to determine if my recently bought TV here in USA will work or not in KSA and I get conflicting information on the forum. some say it works with a converter, some say converter compromise the picture quality, some say their works without a converter, some say it works with HDMI input, etc. some say it works with HD Box with an HDMI cable, etc.
So I am interested in knowing the experience of recently transferred expats who brought their TV from USA. Please advise if the TV works in KSA without the converter straight out of the box?
Thanks in advance.

My husband said that now any new TV from USA will work in Saudi without a problem. I think the problem is only with older TVs.

I purchased a big Samsung flatscreen TV two weeks ago at Extra. Upon unpackaging, I found that it was rated for either 110 or 220 so I bought the little adapter(changed the plug, not the voltage) at our lulus for a few dollars and it functions happily at 110. All we use it for is right now is netflix via VPN or movies/cartoons we have on a hard drive. All via ethernet cable.
In hindsite, if I had the room, I wish I would have brought one of the last Smart Samsung plasma tvs that are still being sold in the states. LCDs in general still cant touch the picture quality of the plasmas and the price of HD TVs are colapsing as 4k TVs are everywhere now. You can find plasma TVs here, but I havnt been able to find the "Smart" ones, at least not made by Samsung.
