o,
I have been reading about the commute times due to lack of housing. Dhahran is the supposed work location (this may change). Like everyone else, I have no idea at this time where I will be housed.
Can you provide me with what is the realistic *round-trip* commute time and pick-up/drop-off times for:
1. ABQ - Dhahran
2. RT - Dhahran
3. AR - Dhahran
How is the bus ride? Nail-biter or pleasant enough to rest/read?
Thanks!
Conquinn

ABQ and RT are approximately 3 hours round trip to DHA from opposite directions depending on traffic. If AR means Rakah about 1 hour to 1 hr 15 mins depending on traffic round trip. If it means Radium then about 30 to 40 mins round trip.
The buses are Mercedes Coaches and they are comfortable for you to read or rest.

Do you happen to know if the Mercedes buses have suitable seating and adjusted height seat belts for children doing the school run vpainter? Thank you in advance.

Hi Luckystar, I do not have children here but the buses I have seen doing the school run are the same as do every other run. They are comfortable and driven safely by the operator. All seats have a single lap strap (like an aircraft) fitted, there are no multi point belts on the buses I have used. Also there are a very steep set of steps to enter/exit the bus in the middle section. Not sure what the age of your child/children are but may need to ensure they utilise entrance at front of bus initially. Hope this helps

Thank you so much Welshman that is really useful information.
My children are 3 and 4 so it would be the 4 year old initially. He's a big boy for 4, but still would need help to start with I think. It's good to know they drive safely and I guess if needs be he could take a basic booster to sit on. I will bring that just in case!

There is also a parent bus monitor on every school bus, so your son will not be on the bus without an adult besides the driver.

Thank you vpainter, that's really good to know : ) He's only 4 and a half and we don't really do School Buses at that age in the UK, so it's nice to think someone will go with him.
Thank you also for your e-mail, we really appreciate it.

The busses are quite large and it seems pretty common for a few of the kids to have fallen asleep by the time the bus brings them home at the end of the day. My wife tells me that the bus monitor on my Son's bus is quick to keep the peace, so we worry more about him behaving than we do his safety.

Connquinn- welcome to KSA! I am guessing you are here now! Where did you end up being housed...regarding your commute question. Hope you are settling in and quickly adjust. We are just coming up on 6 months or so and feeling at home.
