Hi everyone,
After 4 months waiting I finally got my visa le two days ago although I haven't got the confirmation to resign my current job yet.The problem is that the company wants me to move before the 31th of December 2014 in such short notice. I tried everything to convince them that I need 10 more days before relocating because of the one month required for my job and most importantly I am getting married on the 2/1/2015! My reloc adv told me that there is nothing to do and also alerted about the risk to drop the job if I don't. Is that possible??? Why it is such a big deal to relocate before the end of 2014?? I am in a huge dilemma and I would really appreciate if anyone could advise on this situation!!!

our ## told us that we have to be in KSA before the end of the year as well when we tried to push the date to January she said we have to send an email to our Staffing Consultant (the one that send you the offer). We didn't do that and agreed to relocate before the end of the year so our son can start the new trimester at the French school. May be you should give it a try. Good luck.

If you relocate by Dec 31st you get your relocation money at the end of 2015. If not you wont get the allowance to use until the 2016 year, so in effect you should get around £10k (Im in pounds sorry, not sure what it is in C$) extra for relocating 31st Dec, than you would on Jan 1st! Im not sure how that benefits the reloc advisors, maybe in bonus somehow?, but for you its worth it financially and to be able to take more trips home/holidays x

It's thebrepatriation allowance. So after 12 months you have to take a two week vacation from KSA. As I believe, this is when you get your first repat allowance. So if you arrive on dec 31st you get it on dec 31st 2015 for the 2015 year and you must be away on the date you arrived a year later I think? The allowance is allocated though only if you arrived in the year before. Ok I think I sound really confusing! Let me try to find a quote someone put in another forum as that made sense!

Ok here you go found it-
teebee wrote:
A repatriation vacation must include at least 14 vacation days, exclusive of other time off such as travel time, holidays, etc.
In your first year of employment, you need to have completed 12 months service before you can take your repat. You then need to commence your repat before the end of that year. However, you can start your repat before completion of 12 months service, if your anniversary falls within the repat period. Also if your start date anniversary is in the final quarter the year, you can delay your repat to the first quarter of the following year, without affecting eligibility for another repatriation vacation in that year.
Bit confusing, but if you start in April/May 2012, your repat must begin in 2013 on or during your anniversary date or any date up until the end of the year.
If you start in the final quarter of 2012 (Oct-Dec), again the same rule above applies, but you are allowed to take it in the first quarter of 2014 (Jan-Mar) and you are then allowed to take another repat that year.
Normally, repatriation vacations should be separated by an interval of six months minimum.

Another one that's helpfula
"The payout for repat travel is paid out at the anniversary of your hire date for the first year of service. After the first year of service you are eligible to request the funds once per calendar year. For example; if you have a hire date of April 2014 you will be eligible for the first payout in April of 2015. Eligibility for the second payment is after Jan. 1, 2016."
Apparently this is a policy issue. As Vpainter and others have advised on several posts, that always get verification from relocation advisors or recruiters regarding issues of policy. They could vary from country to country and also their could be updates and revisions of policy from time to time.

Hi ckalamaras,
I had the same talk with my ##. They informed me on november 19th that they "were keen" to see me relocate on december 31st at the latest...
Unfortunately my notice period is 2 months and I cannot break it. My ## said that this delay might push SA to withdraw their offer.
I'm now waiting for a new relocation date (or the withdrawal of the offer).
edit Nov 2015: they did not withdraw their offer :-)
