Fellow Canadians, I've noticed that one of the document required is Police Report for Canadian nationals. I have been working and living in the US for the last 8 years so do I need the report or, rather an US police report? If I still need one, how long does it take to get it and do I have to apply it in person? Thanks

From what I understand, it would be for where you currently live, but your relocation advisor can probably clarify that for you.

Crazycatlady,
Thanks for the information. I guess I will just wait till I am assigned a RA.

I am a Canadian but have not lived in Canada for 16 years and my offer is on the global payroll yet they are having me do a Canadian security check not once but twice by two different companies. It is a bit frustrating. You would think that getting the information once would be sufficient but apparently not. But I guess need to role with the punches. Has anyone also experienced multiple checks?

I'm not sure I can be of much help , as you are not currently living in Canada, however the way we proceeded, was to go directly to the police station, filled an application, paid the fees. It took a couple weeks to receive our reports in the mail, which we then forwarded to our relocator in Houston ( unopened/sealed). It was a pretty simple, painless procedure.

Your visa process is dictacted by the Saudi Consulate within the country where your passport was issued. In your case this would be the Consulate in Ottawa. It is only in Canada where the police report is required to be submitted with the visa package. In instances where the applicant lives abroad you must submit a police clearance certificate from the RCMP as well as a police records search from your local police department. The latter being supplemental documentation of the former requirement due to living abroad. The Consulate does not accept or review background checks conducted by the company for employment purposes, so you must provide separate documentation for the visa process according to the Consulates requirements.

to Jord,
Thanks four spot-on reply! that is what the RA has asked for. I've obtained the Canadian clearance through a 3rd party company which saves me a trip to Canada. Saudi does not need authenticated police documents.
