I'm planning to upgrade my spouse's prosumer DSLR and we expect to make the move to Saudi in about a month. The plan was to buy in the states where there appear to be more options and deals but then I discovered that when service is needed(perhaps just warranty service), major brands like Nikon require that you send your equipment back to the country where you bought it from. So we would either have to wait for a repat trip or ship the camera back to the US for service.
Checking the store websites in Khobar, retail prices appear to be a bit higher than retail in the US as well. (not a surprise, but I was curious if they'd turn out to be higher, the same, or less.
Can anyone comment on wether they buy in Saudi, wait to go home and if there is a shop that they prefer to work with?
Do you see professional refurb equipment very often in the Dhahran area?
