Rumor about admission fee to Bahrain

I've traveled to Saudi via Bahrain few times to visit family and one key mistake I've made is not letting the immigration officer know I am a transit to Saudi. Though my flight ends at Bahrain, I was taking car transportation over the causeway, instead of just stamping like a 24 hour transit visa or the most min. amount, they ended up giving me a tourist visa for which the fee was quite high.

Just a heads up in case your final destination is Saudi but your flight lands in Bahrain.
