Hi Vpainter,
Thanks for answering all kinds of questions. I am assigned to a bachelor house at Mango Circle. Could you send all the related documents about the main camp to me at your earliest convenience please? I sent you a PM but it still sits in the outbox.
I will arrive on 23rd this month. I would appreciate your help on this.

I too got assigned to what appears to be bachelor housing/area in DHA (Mango). But I am on family status with wife coming in a few months (no kids). My question is: can spouses (wives) live (legally/culturally/whatever) in bachelor housing with their husbands or is there some policy against this, thus requiring a relocation to "family housing" when she arrives? I'm okay with this, unless she will be the only female for one square kilometer!
Thanks.

Somebody else may have more definite info on this but I am not sure that all housing in Mango is necessarily bachelor housing. I know that most of it is, but that doesn't mean it all is. Also, there are other females living there (women can be bachelors too). As far as I was aware, wives were only allowed to live with their husbands in bachelor accommodation for a limited period but with the current shortage of housing, who knows?

Here is the information I have received so far. I have since been told people will probably start being assigned housing there probably starting in November, due to renovations needed. i do not have pictures of the compound yet. I will forum a discussion group for it as people start living there and let you know when I have pictures and other information.
The newest compound which has been leased by Aramco is called “Radium” and is near to DH Towers and Rakah compound. It is directly across from the Patchi store between Dhahran and Rakah and has a reddish color to it. Mostly 2 and 3 BR apartments, a nice but small pool, apartments are large, and some seem a bit TOO large with lots of empty/open space. It’s completely vacant right now and lots of work must be done to make it liveable. The rumor I heard is that they want to start putting people in it in October (next month)! That may be a difficult timeline considering what we know about the project…But that’s the new place they’ll be putting people…

Hi all,
My offer letter states Dhahran. I'm flying out in 5 days and still haven't got confirmation of housing yet..hope get it soon. We have opted for family acco.
Would appreciate if anyone can let us know what white goods are already in the property..previous posts mention fridge, washing machine, dryer etc but I've seen conflicting information. Also are the new properties fully furnished?
Thanks in advance

Ans78,
Both Dhahran Tower and the new compound, Radium 5, are furnished, including fridge, stove, washer, dryer. And as a new arrival you will receive a welcome kit - there are lots of posts under "Living in Dhahran Tower" that list exactly what is in the current kits...basic food stuffs, kitchen necessities, linens, etc. Good luck with final preparations and your journey.

dimk,
What I mean is I cannot see from the tower the rooftop gardens and pools they mention on Radium's website. That doesn't mean they are not there. We popped in and looked at the compound a week or so ago (lower area only) and there is a pool area and courts for basketball and tennis in the inside courtyard area. As mentioned many times on this forum, it is nearly impossible to predict where you will be housed until the week you are coming and you are assigned housing.

Some bachelors when their families come and there is not available family housing inside DHA, are allowed to stay in their bachelor quarters instead of moving out of Dhahran to receive family housing. Their choice.
