The company has replaced old fiber optic boxes in Dhahran Hills with the newer STC fiber boxes used at Rakkah. This has drastically improved home internet speeds for those living in Dhahran Hills community with a house equipped with the fiber box, rather than the company's proprietary ADSL service. Here's a link to the 2 services now available for those in Dhahran Hills with a Fiber connection: www.stc.com.sa/wps/wcm/connect/english/individual/internet/atHome/jood-net. Presently, the 2 internet-only plans available are 10 Mbps (149 SAR/month) and 20 Mbps (199 SAR/month). For an additional 49 SAR/month, you can increase your upload speed to 5 Mbps on the 10 Mbps d/l plan, and increase u/l to 10 Mbps on the 20 Mbps d/l plan. For those wanting even more speed, the Jood2 and Jood3 bundles are available with internet speeds up to 40 Mbps, but you must take the phone or tv service in a bundle to get the increased internet speed. Only 1000 houses in the Hills have Fibre-Optics cables and out of the 1000, 700 had the fibre optic box installed. So the project is to install the STC FTTH modem to the 300 hiuses who has the connection but didn't have the modem.
Unless Aramco starts laying out new Fibre optic cables, these 1000 houses will be the only ones with FTTH.

I had the Aramco FTTH connection and the box. They have since been replaced with STC FTTH JoodNet service. 10X the speed of Aramco ADSL for only $53/month. No more buffering on Netflix or Amazon Instant Video!

That is great news. But it sounds like we main-camp people will have to stick with listening to the transistor radio in the sitting room by candlelight!

Just got our house upgraded to Stc FTTH service. Download speed increased from a pathetic 0.8mbps to respectable 10-11 Mbps - for the same price

Colt18, I'm living in Dhahran Hills close to the elementary school and the new house's construction project site. I noticed my house has the fiber optics box but the house is still with ADSL. Is there a way to know how IT is doing the installation of STC internet? Estimated date of installation or something like that?
Thanks,

When I moved to the Hills, they said it would take 2 weeks. Actual time: about 2 months. Make sure your house is included for the upgrade by calling the IT Help Desk first.
