Depends on our spending habits. But you can easily live quite comfortably on 2000 USD to 3000USD per month.

Again, it depends on your spending habits. A couple can live off the same amount or less as you want.

Vpainter, Would you say the cost of living is higher or lower compared to the avae living cost in the US? Of course there is also a big difference between California and Texas, but compared to the avae? I heard a box of cereal can be $8 or 10, but on the other side gas is cheap. Thank you

For my family, our cost of living is less in Saudi than in USA. Yes, some food items cost more, but there are just as many food items that cost less here, so I think the food cost is probably similar to what you spend in USA. We eat out a lot less in Saudi than in USA, partly because we live in UDH so there really aren't very many choices for eating out. but, fast food is the same price or cheaper in Saudi than USA. Restaurants are similarly priced I think when you consider there's no tax added.
Gas is of course much much cheaper. We can easily afford to drive a big SUV in Saudi, whereas we would choose a minivan in USA instead.
Rent and utilities are a huge savings in Saudi compared to USA when you live in the Aramco compound. (I can't comment for outside the compound because the rental prices vary quite a bit, so you can live very cheap or live in a huge fancy villa.)
Clothing and shoes in general are more expensive in Saudi than USA, but we remedy that by shopping for clothes and shoes when we visit USA.
We also buy a lot of toys and baby items in USA rather than Saudi due to the difference in price, but again we're bringing those items in our free luggage allowance.
I think you can save a lot of money in Saudi by cooking at home and not shopping for extra things.

Hey everyone, I had a similar situation that you had and how are things going with you now? I live in Uruguay with my girlfriend ( I moved from America to Uruguay through a student program). However, I spend money from the program on food for about $ 80 a month and it's only on food. By the way I do not use public transport because it is quite expensive one way ticket costs 1.40$. According to a site prices are very similar to the facts so if someone wants to move to another country using different programs I think this site can help. __________________________________ Site with information about cost of living: costoflivingreports.com
