o everyone, This goes to every member of the forum, i would like to have your opinions regarding life for expat women in KSA. My wife constantly asks me for the way of living there as she is a bit anxious and she would like to collect as much information as possible. She will probably start feeling more comfortable when she see how other women there in compounds live and mix with each other. So please any help from you would be a big help for her! Perhaps any contacts from women already living in aramco compounds would be definitely a big help for her. thank you

A lot of it depends on the woman herself and her atude.
A LOT of women hate it here when they first arrive. Its a huge culture shock, they have to wear the abaya when off camp, they cant drive, etc.
That being said, once the initial shock wears off most seem to adjust and fit right in. My wife looks forward to coming back from vacations, as do the wives of most of my friends. Each camp is different, I can only speak for Dhaharn and RT as I am unfamiliar with the other camps.
DH is the main camp, has a lot of people, a huge variety of self directed groups, sports, activies, etc, is close to the main shopping malls, and is only minutes away from the causeway to Bahrain.
RT is the beach front camp, it is about 40-60min from DH (depending on traffic). It is smaller and has that 'small town' feel to it, there are less activities and such to choose from but still quite a bit to keep you busy. There are shoppers busses which run regularly to the main shopping areas in Khobar (outside DH), and there are camp busses which run regularly to DH (from there you can just get a taxi). The Aramco buses are free.
Some women hate the abaya, some actually learn to like it. (My wife for example likes the fact she can just throw on whatevers clean and not have to worry about it because shes just going to put an abaya on, it takes the stress out of getting ready to go out lol).
The driving is an issue for many, but after about 15minutes on the roads here your wife may decide she doesnt want to drive anyway. I cant say much more on that, but you'll figure it out when you arrive.
Everyone has their own experiences, their own personalities, etc but for my family life has been good here.

Twofeets,
Many thanks for your info.finding a work is an issue for most of the expat w omen there unless they find a job at Aramco, if it is possible. How long you've been working in KSA? My work will be based in Abqaiq but I don't know where my house will be based, hope it will be in abqaiq compound too. How is the current situation in rakkah and DT tower for the new hires? Ate there still vacant apartments?
