Hi- we are in the final throes of the process, coming from the UK. We expect to get our visas and hand in notice next week.
I'm just trying to understand what we can and cannot take with us. My relocation adviser has suggested I ask the shipping company (which I will do) and has provided me with an Aramco guide to this, but I thought it would be wise to ask here also and get insight from people who have been/are going through the process.
- Items containing alcohol. I know we obviously can't take alcohol itself but does this also mean we can't carry things like perfumes, deodorant, aftershave etc in our hold baggage on the plane?
- I notice medication is also banned from the shipment. Does this mean we can't take household things like skin creams for the kids, calpol, paracetamol etc in hold baggage either?
- Figurines of human or animal form. Surely this doesn't also extend to children's toys? My 4 year old is a massive dinosaur fan and he will want to take his dinosaurs and cuddly toys in his hold suitcase (and possibly carry on luggage too). We do have a lot of toys for the kids- is there anything we should be particularly aware not to pack, either in airplane luggage or in e-boxes/surface shipment?
- CDs/DVDs. We do plan to take some of these, but without any artwork that could be questionable. Discs will be in a CD wallet and carried in our hold suitcases on the plane. Obviously these will not be anything graphic or religious! I'm thinking a few kids DVDs (Disney etc) and maybe a few sitcoms and movies.
I appreciate this is probably all obvious stuff once you've gone through the process, but from our side it's the sort of thing you get anxious about before you go. It would be awful if our son had to surrender his dinosaurs because we hadn't worked this out!
Any answers or advice on this side of things would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
