One week to go. We arrive next Tuesday late at night. I have checked the forum and gone through it and have a pretty good list.
Did the current residents "wish" that they had packed an item in their suitcase opposed to EBox or Sea Shipment? I just find its the smaller items we neglect.
Any help is appreciated.
Future resident of # 1830.

o, Honestly, we didn't ship anything we just came with our 10 suitcases. The only things I would wish I brought more clothes such as maxi casual dresses and long skirts to wear under my abaya...I like to wear open abaya unless your mrs prefer the fully closed ones. Also, some more shorts and casual wear for when you are around the compound.
Please feel to contact me house number 1201 at anytime I am always around
Safe flight

akapur448, How has your moving into Rakah gone so far? We're moving to Rakah on Sept. 24th, we'll be neighbors, our house is #1827. We're both getting very excited for the date to come around.

Hi fsaeed81,
All moves are tough. Hopefully it won't be 47 degrees when you get here. The compound itself is ok. My biggest piece of advice is to rent a car when you get here. Its not Dhahran so ignore what you see in those brochures.

I'm definitely expecting it to be a pain not having a car. Are we able to rent a car without having an Iqama? Ive heard Majestic car rental does rent cars but not sure if you can take them out of DH compound.

Hi Hero, I'm sorry relocation advisor isn't getting back to you in time. If it helps, here's all the info I have. Our flight is for Sept 22, so I emailed my relocation advisor if I would be able to bug her once more and get a confirmation of our residental area. Her response was she will have access to the information 6 days prior to our flight (making it on Sept. 14) and i should just remind her on Sept 11th (she was not working on Sept. 12) and she will confirm with her contact at Aramco Housing in KSA when she gets back on Monday.
I tried to be a bit sly  and didn't respond to that email until Wednesday (a day before she requested me to email her a reminder, hoping she can get me the information that day instead of waiting for monday), and mh reply was thank you very much, I will send you an email to remind you tomorrow. She replied back after a few ours with our housing confirmation. So it seems they may be able to get the information for you 6 days prior to your flight. I would suggest emailing then and requesting. Im working with their Houson office, so there mag be differences in the information provided to Houston than london. Not sure. Hope this helps.

Housing assignments are made the week of your arrival depending on availability and sometimes not until the day before you step on the plane. The relocation agent has nothing to do with housing assignments and she/he cannot tell you something housing hasn't told her/him.

Sounds as though quite a few arrivals the end of the month. I arrive pm the 25th with my wife to follow +/- 45 days. This forum has been a great source of info and thanks to all. I have an arrival document showing we are assigned #1143. No idea where on the compound but look forward to the adventure and meeting new friends. See you soon and safe travels.

Hi As I see most arrivals to Rakah compound received their house numbers. I will arrive with my family by 8th Oct and officially assigned to Rakah compound but I did not receive my house number till now. Do I need to worry that maybe I will be send to DT even if I am American? Thanks

These are the last minutes items/things we wish we had brought with us for our first few days in the KSA at Rakah Local Compound:
1. Can Opener 2. Vegetable Peeler 3. ZipLoc bags 4. Cloth laundry bags 5. Some small tools (flat and philips head screwdriver, leatherman/gerber, pliers (reg and needlenose) 6. A set of our own bedlinens (the sheets at Rakah can't be more than 100-200 thread count) 7. A full-sized iron (we find that the kitchen counter is a great ironing surface for now, with a towel underneath the clothes to absorb the heat)
