Money transfers depend on the bank doing the transfer. You should be able to do a transfer in SAR, Euro, UK Pound, or US Dollar without much difficulty. When you do a transfer from here, the amount is deposited in SAR and you determine the receiving bank currency, usually US Dollar and they bank does the currency conversion. If you send SAR, the US bank will do the conversion upon arrival. Both cases usually give a less than ideal conversion rate. Most banks here also offer good exchange rates for customers who have a history with them (e.g. credit card, loan, etc.).

SABB offers a second currency acct online - just transfer into that acct (favorable rates) and transfer abroad.

I cant speak for other Saudi Hollandi branches, but the branch here is RT has been horrible. I have an account with them, yet they have made sending money a nightmare, they have refused to exchange money unless its USD or Euros (they wont even exchange money from BH, Qatar, or the UAE), and my debt card expires this month and still no word on a new one from them...
