Arriving before end of this month

I'll be getting there before the end of the month,
I didn't want to carry too much with me on the plane, so am hoping to get hold of some things when I get there, namely good running shoes and a bicycle (push bike) - a decent road bike if possible.

Are there shops in the area to get these things?

Also I have no clue really how big the compound is and how to get from the accomodation to the bus, to get to work.

Any info would be very helpful.
