We're slatted for either Rakah or DT for end of August. I just want to check if anyone knows how many units are filled to this point. On a previous post, I saw someone was assigned a certain unit and looking onto Google Maps and knowing residents are being assigned from center out (previous post's resident was slated for street 19), my guestimate is approximately 70 - 140 units left?

I just wanted to check, are there any vacant villas left in Rakah?

fsaeed81, I live in Rakkah, and there still vacant units, don't know how many but your guesstimate seems to hold water, the question that you may need to ask and probably no one in this forum can answer is, out of the currently vacant units, how many are not already assigned? Maybe just a few?

Hi
How many bedroom units are there in Rakah?
I am enled to a 3 bedroom, family of 4. But given the recent few cases, those with same children are being assigned a 2 bedroom unit - I have two boys, both under 3 years of age!! And keeping low expectations I am just considering options for 2 bedroom units!
I am still waiting for my visa le, and its anyone's guess as to when I'll actually move - but just wanted to check what size units are available in Rakah.
Our preference is to move to a housing community than a block of flats !
Cheers

If you mean size in terms of bedrooms; Rakah has three bedroom units. In Sq ft, I'm not too certain. It may be on the pamphlet your relocation advisor gives.

Thanks fsaeed81.
Yes I did mean size = number of bedrooms. So there are no 2 bedroom houses, just 3?
Also - in terms of size (living space / area), do you know how they compare to flats in Dharan Towers.
Thanks!

The Rakah homes are all 3 BR and are about 2100 sq ft.

UK_Finance_Applicant,
What I have seen is that new employees will be housed where Housing decides, they will try to accommodate family size but they are following certain policies that are far from perfect and sometimes unfair, my opinion.
Last thing I heard, and read, is that Rakah, lately, is being assigned for US passport holders (although they will be moved to DHA as soon as possible) and GC 15+ employees. Regards

In terms of vacancies, people are leaving almost every month for Dhahran camp (don't know how often to Ras Tanura) as bidding lists come out, so even if it is or will be said that the available units are spoken for, it seems homes will keep opening up as people keep leaving.

Are they moving Americans only? I've heard theres some sort of agreement with IRS that americans need to live on company owned property?

You have to go back in history to understand. Aramco was originally started by an American company. When the company went from being American owned to Saudi owned, there were agreements put in place for the Americans between the governments. Once it became a Saudi company, other nationalities began to be hired. The agreements of the past in place for the U.S. payroll employees are not in place for the other payrolls of today. The Saudis have put together each of the payrolls of today, the latestbeing the Global Payroll. It may not seem fair, but it is what it is.

Thank you for the explanation. Im on US payroll but I'm suspecting were going to like Rakah (if we're placed there) enough to hope to move be relocation.

U.S. Rakah residents are being housed in Rakah and then bidding on homes in DHA when they come available. Bidding is on a point system: So many points for GC and points for date of arrival.
