I just received my offer for role in DHA. Its an attractive one but as a UK expat parent with 2 school age kids (5 and 9) I'm concerned about school. Relocating from Qatar where i faced some challenges getting kids settled in school, i wanted to check what the current situation is on getting my kids places in one of the British schools out of compound (i'm making assumption i wont be housed in community).
My offer details an amount which seems to cover the fees for all the schools but am concerned about how long they would be on waiting list? Not getting a place for them for would be a difficult for me. If waiting lists are very long, how realistic is it to insist on community housing?

Why are you assuming you won't be provided housing?
You would be housed in one of the owned or leased Aramco compounds and your children could attend Aramco schools or they could still go to a British school if you preferred they continue in the British curriculum.
You would have to apply to the British Schools to know whether or not your kids could get in.
Dhahran International Schools Group British School and BISAK (British International School Al Khobar) are the two most attended by Students from Aramco. You can google them both and contact the schools to find out if your kids would be able to attend.

Thanks v much vpainter,
I will check out the British schools you mentioned for availability but if there is possibility of being housed in Aramco owned or leased compounds I'd be very happy to send kids to Aramco schools.
If my work location is Dhahran, can you advise which housing could I potentially could be offered? (family of 2+2).

No one can tell you that. Housing assignments are made usually the week of your arrival dependent upon availability at the time of your arrival.
Could be ABQ, Rakah, or DT
