Hi, This is my first post and I wanted to start by thanking the moderators and the forum members for making this site such a wealth of information. I has really been helpful for me and my family during the hiring process.
I am waiting for my visa le to get my visa and my relocation adviser told me my target move date was Sept. 12th and we will be moving in to Rakah.
I'm wondering what the current status of self directed groups and activities is in Rakah. Specifically, I have a son who will be 7 in October. He is active in karate and little league baseball (coach pitch). Do the kids have to commute to Dhahran to participate in activities, or are there some in Rakah for them?
Thanks and we looking forward to joining the community!
Tom

There are some activities for your son in Rakah. Although baseball will be in DHA.

There is only one SDG on Rakah at the moment and pretty much all activities are run under this umbrella group.
There is a new martial arts coach who has either started or will start soon -there was an advert doing the rounds. I don't think that it is karate on offer, though - tae kon doe if I recall, can't really remember though.
No baseball here, but football, tennis, swimming, zumba, occasional sailing courses, all available and I think there is basketball as well, which is new.
You would be very welcome and receive support to start up a little league baseball if you wished to do this.

Thank you very much for the insights. I'll plan to help start up a little league baseball group when we get settled in.
I'd also like to connect with any others in Rakah who enjoy fishing.
Thanks again!
