Hi there, Well my heart skipped multiple beats just an hour ago when I received an email from my relocation advisor stating my background and medical has passed and expected departure date of Aug/Sept. Feeling the time is coming really close to the BIG move. Anyways, my questions is - we're going to keep a cat, my wife wants to get a cat here and take it with us, but I've heard from orientation that its better to get an animal in KSA than here (?) Personally I would rather get a cat there than take one from here. Can someone give me some information on animals in KSA. RA is saying we're going to be placed either Al-rakkah or Dhahran Towers, I'm expecting it will be in Dhahran. Are there ... pet stores or animal shelters there?

Cats a very easy to get here. Strays are often found on camp, usually kittens, which are then put up for adoption after clearance (and neuter/spay) by the vet.

Check out saudipaws.com/ There is a HUGE over population problem here of cats so finding a kitten or cat will not be difficult.

Cats are everywhere....sadly. I suggest giving a home to one in need that crosses your path or one that is being fostered rather than getting one at a pet shop. We have a kitten from the compound that may be adopted out if the right home surfaces.

You can contact the Kennel Club when you arrive, they have kittens waiting for homes.

Very easy to adopt a cat in Saudi. We adopted 2 cats. One that was adopted as the owner was leaving for retirement and another was an abandoned Persian. You may also be surprised to see that a lot of the cats in Saudi that are abandoned are pedigreed cats. Kennel Club has some cats for adoption (there's Archie who looked exactly like our first cat and he needs a home).

There are at least two possibilities that I'm aware of. You can get someone to "cat-sit" for you - either they can stay in your house (if eligible to do so) or stop by every day to feed your pet(s). Or you can put your pet(s) up at the Kennel Club.
