Hi Everyone,
I just started researching working for SA after applying to a couple positions a while back. This forum has been extremely helpful, but I do have a couple of general questions that I have not seen answered yet (atleast that I know of...). I am not even sure any of these can be answered because it is probably on a case by case basis.
1. I have seen other say that they were offered about what they were making elsewhere (I am in the US). That seems perfectly normal considering all the other benefits they offer. However, what if the position you applied for more advanced then what you currently do? Do you think they take that into consideration or would they probably still offer you base salary at what you make at home?
2. I thought I read that if you are hired as family status, that your wife cannot work when you get over there. If that is so, due they factor in her salary (that we would be losing) into the base salary they would offer me?
3. If I was hired on with family status would I be able to get a house in one of the communities and if not, where would we stay in the meantime?
Thanks again for all your help in advance! I know this is putting the cart before the horse since I havent even been invited for an interview, but I thought I would ask anyways.
We currently live in Minnesota and are looking to see other parts of the world. I also wouldnt mind skipping a few of these winters we have up here...
Thanks!

1) yes, they will probably take it into consideration.
2) Some wives work. She would have to apply once she is here. No, Aramco will not cover her salary when making you an offer.
3) you would probably be housed in an Aramco owned or leased property: DHA, RT, ABQ, Rakah, Dhahran Tower. They are offering some people a housing allowance who do live off camp in the local community.

Like vpainter said, wives can find jobs in Aramco, but it might take some time, and it will depend on her qualifications.

UmmRiyam, ...or may never happen. My understanding is that there is a visa system for 'casual' employment over which Aramco does not have control. If your wife is very qualified in a profession for which the government does not deem it necessary to grant casual visas, she will never work here (in her chosen field). This applies even if they do grant visas for exactly the same profession to foreigners hired to fill them. If your reaction is "But that doesn't make any sense...", it won't be the last time, assuming you eventually come here. Wutz
