Hi There, I've accepted an offer to work in Training Technical Support Dept. and am trying to get some information on the work environment there. Is there anyone in the group working there that can provide me some information on environment there. I understand working at Saudi Aramco would be much different than what I'm used to in US.
My biggest concerns would be how folks are in the department, if there are other expats working there, and possibly the ratio?
Other concern is, I'm currently in the mid-stage of my career, therefore I have a good 15 - 20 more working experience to go and at the best case scenario, I would like to conclude my career with Aramco (or at the very best have enough funds for retirement). Has this department seen growth or, more importantly, have there been layoffs (surplusses) in the department(ie Saudization). I know from experience non-revenue producing departments typically see the first round of layoffs when the market declines. In my current stage, this position would be a step back (going from a developer to a technical support role) to what I'm doing currently, and fear if my stay there is short, it may set me back in my career.
Any advice would be appreciated. Just a note, at the currently moment, I have made my mind to quit my employment (if everything proceeds as normal with MI/BI) and make this "jump" and take this experience as an adventure. Whatever prevails, is up to .

You shouldn't quit your current job until you receive the clearance letter from Aramco, doesn't matter you're told everything is cleared, is not oficially done until the letter is in your hands
