Is there any chance of living in Ras Tanura instead of Ar Rakah and commuting to Dhahran?

akapur448,
There are families living in Rakkah waiting for accommodation to become available in Ras Tanura, so I would think not.
Why would you want to?

Don't want the kids to spend 1.5 half on the road each day. All I hear is how tough the driving conditions are. Irrespective of how good and safe the bus driver maybe, we cannot control how others may drive around them. Plus, the loss of productivity for the kids and not being able to take advantage of after school activities that are available to local DHA kids.

Aramco buses to date (since the buses started running decades ago) have never been in a major accident. In 14+ years our family members have been on 1 Aramco shopping bus, this past year, that was in a fender scratch - scratched the bus, car was undamaged, I took pictures, not even a fender bender.
In private cars in over 14 years we have only been in one fender bender and we were riding with someone else. The accident occurred in a parking lot.
We personally have not known anyone, except one, in 14 years who have been killed in a car accident and that accident, several years ago, was inside camp.
Accidents can happen anywhere in the world. No where in the world are you guaranteed not to be in an vehicle accident.
If you are going to object to a place because you fear having a car/bus accident. Then if you are in the U.S. you had better not get in a car. Most accidents there according to statistics happen within 5 miles of your home. We came from Houston, we were in accidents there that totaled our car and our mini van, not our fault, in a period of 7 years, not including the fender benders.
The Aramco bus drivers and the Aramco taxi drivers are very good and do drive defensively.
We praise we have not been in any accidents. Defensive driving is a must.
Just an FYI, the Rakah kids are participating in after school activities in DHA as well as have activities inside Rakah. There are 250+ families, 800+ people on Rakah, many of them are kids. 80 kids showed up for swim team when it started in Rakah.

Thanks. That sounds reassuring about the safety in traveling part. My husband will be joining Aramco by the end of this month. Will be working in Ras Tanura but was given Rakah for his housing when he signed his offer letter. After reading all the posts, housing arrangement seems like a surprise package. Anyways getting all set for the new experience.
