o Everyone Today my VIL issued, and probably it will take 10 days to get the visa stamped. My main question: Is it good to arrive just before ramadan or at the beginning of ramadan? knowing that I work in Dhahran and will live in ABQ and I need to fast as well (I am muslim). How hard to relocate there on Ramadan as a muslim ? I hope somebody know Here in Australia its winter now, its cold and the days are shorter I still have the option to postpone my departure after ramadan

If I were you and receive my visa block in time - I would definitely start in or before Ramadan!!
Life in Saudi slows down in Ramadan, working hours would be shorter (I believe) - so perhaps easier to settle in, a good month to start a new journey and more importantly I am in London and would escape from keeping 18-20 hours of fasts !!!!
I guess decision to start before or after Ramadan would be a personal choice, and depends if you're moving with family etc...

Thanks UK_Finance_Applicant and vpainter
Sometimes when you think too much about something then you take the most cowardly decision.
I think working hours for me will be shorter as I work in teaching. I'll arrive on the school vacation time

I don't know how it is handeled in ARAMCO, but according to the Saudi Labour law the maximum working hours for muslim employees only is 36 hours/week.

I believe that vPainter may be mistaken on this one. Hours for Ramadan were announced via company email last week, and all muslims (Saudi and expat) are eligible to work Ramadan hours.
Depending on job function, the hours vary (I believe shift workers have to continue to work normal shift hours). But for the engineers that I work with in the office, the muslims will work five six hour days (during non-Ramadan periods, they work five eight hour days, with an hour for lunch). I not sure about hours for other functions like the hospital, etc.

for most muslims, locals and expats, working hours are from 7 am to 1 pm during work days in ramadan. if you are a muslim, then yes it is better to come in ramadan - shorter workdays and the whole work/life environment supports fasting.
