Dear all ,
Please can anyone help us to know if Al Rakah compound is full or not ? We will come to KSA by the end of this week and still we dont know where our house will be located , our relocation representative told us 2 months ago that it will be at Al Rakah compound but now she doesn't know where it will be exactly ... also recently i read here on the forum that Al Rakah is considering full now ...
So can anyone help us on that

As of today, Rakkah is not fully-occupied. About 300 of ~500 villas are occupied. The other 200 are either vacant/ready for new occupant, or in various state of renovation.
According to rumors, the 200 vacant houses in Rakkah (although not yet occupied) have been committed to future newcomers currently in process. This rumor may or may not be true.
If your relo advisor has indicated Rakkah, you will most likely be placed there since there ARE vacant houses in Rakkah. Also, what nationality are you? If you are from the US, Canada or Western Europe, you will most likely be placed in Rakkah. If you are from South America or Asia, you will most likely be placed in Abqaiq.

I'm not so sure that last bit is necessarily accurate. I know of two South American families that were recently assigned to ar-Rakkah compound.

I said *Most likely*.
Most Latino families that I know live in ABQ, especially newcomers. Among the few who live in RK, they either have U.S. passports or had previously lived in RT or ABQ and moved by their department.
There must be exceptions, off course. But they are rare.

Rihana,
Curious to see where you landed. I hope you and your family are settling in.

I'm a little confused over how Aramco assigns people to the compounds. Here's my stats: GC13, Canadian, Drilling Engineer, Family Status w/ 3 kids - assigned to ABQ. We were initially told Rakah but now it may be ABQ but still may be Rakah (relocation advisor said 50/50 chance of either). The way I understood it from talking to the ASC recruiting team (right after the interview) was that based on my stats we would be going to Rakah. Also, I thought that Aramco wanted people in operations roles fairly close to where they worked (DHA for me) in case something urgent came up.
At this point, we kind of quit fussing about which community we end up in. Both Rakah and ABQ have their own specific pro's/con's.

O&GEng,
I do not know if there is drilling sites in Dhahran? are you sure that your work place is in Dhahran not Abqaiq?
based on the information I got from my HR here in Dhahran (as I am local hire) the global pay roll like you and me most probably assigned to Abqaiq
despite of that my work place is in Dhahran and the project that I will work in is in Al khobar, they assigned me to housing in Abqaiq.
I am same grade like you so I think the grade has major role in house assignment. and tried with the HR to get me Al Rakah but he said no way.
I checked some local compounds in Al Khobar but I think they do not have the same green areas and space like Abqaiq (the information I have about Abqaiq is from the videos on Aramco website)
whether in Abqaiq or Al Rakah, Good Luck and welcome to Saudi Arabia

goatlast, I work in the Upstream organization and all the Drilling Engineers I know are based in Dhahran.
There was some talk of some Dhahran-based personnel being moved to Abqaiq or even Al-Hasa but that has not happened up to now.
There are also some Drilling Engineers based in Abqaiq.

Is Rakah full now? Who has preference, I am offered a CG14 on global payroll, what are my chances to get a place in Rakah?

Housing will be assigned the week of your arrival depending upon availability of a home you are eligible for.
