After reading the forum i found that there are around 6 plugs 220V distributed in the kitchen/laundry room?!
The rest of the house is still 110V. So do you people suggest to bring all the small lights, alarms, etc... 110V with me when we arrive? And bring the kitchen appliances 220V with me also?
I'm not sure what to bring with me and what to buy locally!
Any help is welcome!

Six 220V outlets in the kitchen and laundry is what you have when you arrive.
There is also a 110V in the kitchen and another in the den and utility room. You can have these and other 110V outlets converted to 220V.
With regards to what to bring, some 220V appliances will work quite happily in 110V and others won't and vice versa. Lamps - for example - so long as they have 110V bulbs will work in 220V (and I guess vice versa). Things which require a lot of power - irons, vacuums, kettles are the ones which seem to get upset about the wrong voltage.
My advice is: if you have it, ship it. If you don't already have it then buy anything new you need when you arrive here. My reasoning is that it may work even on the wrong V and the selection of appliances available here is not so great and often more expensive.
As a general note, we threw out a bunch of stuff before we came, took cash in lieu and made a small shipment ourselves. In hindsight, I really wish that we had shipped the lot.

Not all houses have the 220V plugs at this time. If the house you are assigned to does not, you can request them from maintenance after you arrive.
I suggest you bring appliances you want, the selection is minimal here. You will have a better choice back home.

Thanks for the advice! Since we are coming from the UAE, we can only get 220V appliances here. At least some home appliances are dual voltage! Well just ask the kind people of maintenance to do some modification to 220V where needed.
