Is it possible to renew entry/exit visa while being out of kingdom under special circumstances ? We are expecting and planning to be in US for the delivery and coincidentally the entry /exit expiration date is close to the delivery date. It may not be possible to travel back to KSA in time.
If it cannot be renewed while out of country- what would be other option- apply for new visa for mother and new baby?
Thank you

You can request an extension through the embassy, but if you haven't left Saudi yet, then I would suggest trying to get your exit/re-entry visa issued with the proper amount of time you will be away. Generally, you shouldn't be out of Saudi for more than 6 lunar months.

I would agree with UmmRiyam. I have had the experience of extending an exit/re-entry visa while the holder was out of kingdom and I would say that it is something to be avoided, if at all possible. Much better to get a new exit/re-entry for the mother, preferably valid for a year (depending on iqama validity, of course). In fact, depending on when it is due to expire, it may be better to renew her iqama first, then get her a new visa.
Bear in mind that you don't only have the mother's exit/re-entry to consider, you also have to factor in the time required to get a visa for the new-born. I believe there are other threads on the forum about this issue, if you do a search for them.

Thank you very much
The term 6 lunar month is new to me. I thought spouses could stay out of Kingdom as long as 180 days in a calender year without jeopardizing the family status of the employee.
It looks like our stay could extend beyond 180 days including duration of pregnancy, delivery, and visa formalities for the new baby.

We are having a similar problem. My family is flying home in June to help with family issues (the birth of my newphew). Because we are more than 30 days out from the expiration of our Visa (expires July 30) and more than 90 days out for the expiration of our iqamas (expire in Sept) Aramco will not renew them. My family will not be back in Kingdom until Sept, by which time the visa will be long out of date and the Iqama will be very close to expiration. We tried to get an extension of the visa but were told they could not due to the date of the iqama expiration being too close to the date of return...
Long story made short, my family will probably be forced to leave and have their papers expire while out of Kingdom. Hopefully the processing to get them renewed doesnt take as long as it has for others (some have taken almost 3 months) as she is supposed to return to work here in September....

Good luck to all of you. Our friends had their visas expire while out of kingdom it took them over 4 months to get back and in the end they had to go to ASC, have everything redone and then received their visas. KSA government does not like it when visas expire while you are out. Another friend had to get a new visa for his wife, it took 6 months.
My humble recommendation: Ask for a supervisor about getting visas and iqamas done early. First answers are always no when it is not the norm. The supervisor/manager can authorize them to be done early. Keep asking for their supervisor, any time someone tells you no. Contact HR for assistance.
