Greetings,
I have been advised by my relocation advisor that my VIL is to be issued within the next 2 weeks.
While I am excited that some progress has been made I am concerned about the lack of information that I have received.
Would someone please assist me with the following:
Shipping:
Has anyone has experience shipping their personal belongings from Australia?
If so, could you recommend some names of shipping companies that I could use.
Bedding:
Is it recommended to ship my own bedding?
I notice that a double-bed is provided – does anyone have measurements as I have a deluxe queen which may not fit.
Also, are there furniture stores that stock brand name bedding such as Sealy, etc.
How do the prices compare with Australia.
Accommodation:
I have seen numerous posts about the commute between Abqaiq and Dhahran.
Our relocation advisor has recommended that we consider staying in a non-Aramco private residential compound closer to Dhahran.
Is there anyone who has moved out of the Abqaiq compound able to comment?
As well as provide names of residential compounds that we should consider.
Household items:
Our relocation advisor has suggested that we take a supply of ‘cleaning products/materials’ with us but has not provided any further details.
Is someone able to elaborate on what items are required – for the bathroom, laundry, general cleaning.
Electronics:
We have also been advised to purchase our own TV-DVD, Wi-Fi internet routers, surge protector plugs, currency converters (220v to 110v), laptop and adaptors.
Are these items readily available in KSA or is it recommended to purchase these in Australia?
Is anyone able to comment on the price difference between KSA and Australia?
The above are questions that come immediately to mind.
I am sure there will be more to follow.
We have tried researching these items on a number of expat forums and looking at online stores in KSA but have found little to go by.
We would appreciate someone’s help quite urgently – preferably before we are in the departure lounge at the airport(!).
Best regards,
Jim.
