Hi everyone We are currently in the final stages of the process and my husband has been assigned Dharan with residence in Abqaiq. We will be coming from London. Whilst I am excited I am understandably nervous about the move . I have searched the Forum trying to find answers specific relating to childcare and househelp in Abqaiq, but all the information I seem to find relates to RT or DH. I would really appreciate your help regarding these questions: 1. Is there a daycare centre in Abqaiq ? if not are there any childminders? . I have a 18th month old boy and I am worried that we are going to bore each other senseless being together 24/7 (I have always worked full time) and without other toddlers to be play/be with . 2. How easy it is to find house help? 3. Are there any activities for 10 year olds ? (my daughter) Thank you very much in advance for any information.

There are no day cares as you would know them within Aramco. There are some private daycares in homes. There are play groups you can join.
House help can be found easily if you want a houseboy. If you are wanting a maid, it may take more time finding one. You can ask around once you arrive for referrals.
Yes, there will be activities for your 10 year old.

Hi MC02,
We are relocating to Abqaiq soon and also have a 10 year-old daughter! From everything I've read, it sounds like the schools are wonderful and there are many activities for school-age children and young children alike. Since we also have a 10 year-old, I know more about the activities for this age group. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Abqaiq has many of the activities my daughter loves here in the States: Girl Scouts (they have an annual overnight camp out at the beach!), swim club, soccer club, tennis club, and even a children's triathalon. Apparently it's extremely safe, so many children our daughters' age enjoy more freedom to ride bikes around the compound and visit parks and friends' homes than they do in their home countries. We'll be there in early August. When do you arrive?

I also have a 10 year old daughter, as well as a 7yr old and 4yr old twins all girls, we are expecting visa to be stamped next week. Hubby will go first then I am expecting me and the girls will arrive towards the end of August. There seems to be lots of activities and new people to meet!

Hi Alicia and Aussie hopeful
We are waiting for our passports but we have been told that we will be there in time for the start of the school year.
Thank you very much for sharing the information you have ! . It makes it easier to know that at least my daughter can still do the some of the activities she does here. She goes to Cubs and soon will be a Scout, and enjoys sports, hopefully there will be some kind of dancing class (this is what she enjoys the most :-) .
I am really looking forward to the adventure and she is looking forward to the freedom of riding her bike around.
Thanks again

Hi aussie hopeful, Congrats on getting your visas! All girls...your poor husband is outnumbered! I'm the oldest of 3 girls, and that's what my dad always joked. How fun that we all have 10 year old girls and are arriving in Abqaiq in the next few months. I look forward to meeting you!

Hi MCO2, The Abqaiq teachers I've been corresponding with have daughters who enjoy dance classes. They recently had a ballet recital and the photos were just precious! Best of luck with all the preparations for the move. See you soon in Abqaiq!

MC02,
Our daughter also does cubs, and our 7 yr old does joey's. Hubby is a scout leader and finishes with them next week :-(
The girls are really looking forward to being able to meet new friends and walk round to each other houses

arkansasteacher, Hubbys view is that he will be well taken care of in old age!! Visa has been stamped and received by agent, Dave will probably fly 19 June and hopefully we can get over there before the end of August
