Heard that trafic jam on weekend (25/26) back from Bahrain. Miles long line and hours for waiting. Said that cars need to be X-rayed to pass. Why this is happening? Any more information? Will this be a long term measure?

They have had xray on the causeway for many years. Every once in a while they use it. Sometimes I think it may be triggered by incidences of confiscations - especially drugs and alcohol. Or they have heard there is a large shipment of some sort going to be brought in, again probably alcohol or drugs. Previously, it does eventually die down again. Many people check this website prior to leaving, which gives you an estimate of time it is taking to cross the causeway: www.zahmaola.com/Also there are apps (status of the King Fahd Causeway) for smartphones if you google for them.
