What are yall planning to do with the TV situation? I was browsing one of the electronic stores that someone else posted in the forum, and all of the TVs are 2012 models and cost more than a larger 2014 model.
I was planning to bring my 70" LED and mount it on the wall (not even sure if we are allowed to do this), buy a smaller TV for the kids playroom, and then buy a TV for our bedroom which we would use in the living room until the 70" arrives from surface shipment. After looking at the prices, it almost seems like a better idea to get a new model in the US and go without a TV for a while. I plan to get a signal converter for the living room TV (NTSC to PAL).

I am in the same situation. I found from friends who used these converters that the picture is not near as good as you are used to here in the US and sometimes the converter causes slow motion of the picture on the TV. This will defeat the purpose of buying a high end TV from the US and take it to Saudi because you will not really enjoy the features of that high end TV. I ended up selling my TVs here in the US and I am planning to buy new TVs when I get there. I know it is not the most economical route but it will make life easier for me. At least I won't have to wait for the shipments to arrive.

All,what if you have a blue-ray player, X-box, DVD's, etc. that was bought in North America?
Would you be able to use these things with a PAL TV? Or do you need a dedicated tv from here to be taken to KSA?
Thanks

Many of the TV's here can be bought multi-system and your players will work on that type of TV. If you buy a PAL only, then they will not work on the PAL TV.
PAL DVD's (bought in KSA) will not play in a U.S. DVD player, only NTSC DVD's. We have a multi-system DVD player we bought here. But also have to have a U.S. DVD player for a few of the NTSC Region 1 DVD's we buy in Bahrain because they won't play in our Multi-system DVD player.

Are the DVD, Blueray etc. pretty reasonably priced in KSA? What about TV? Do you have any example prices for these items if we are to buy them locally in KSA?

There is no cable Tv in KSA, satellite TV only. You can look at the Orbit/Showtime (OSN) website and see the channels available here. There is also Star World, and others.

Hi everyone, we are planning to arrive at the end of this month and I was wondering if there are any special import requirements or customs duties for 3D LED TVs we wish to bring as part of our luggage allowance. I have heard TVs are a restricted item for KSA but not sure. Grateful for any experience with this.

Many people have brought TV's in their shipments, no problem. You do not say where you are coming from: The only issue will be if they are not PAL receivers. NTSC TV's will not work here without a converter box, which you will need to bring with you. Multi system TV's will work here and can be bought here.

My experience with NTSC to PAL converters was not good. That was a few years ago so maybe the technology is better now. If you happen to own a lot of DVDs you plan to bring, bring a DVD player with you in case Saudi Arabia is in a different zone than all your DVDs. Multizone players exist but there are no guarantees as encryption gets better all the time.
