My offer letter stated that I would be housed in the Senior Housing Community in Ras Tanura, but, due to a housing shortage, would temporarily be assigned to Al-Rakah. I'm 34 years old, single, male, GC11. I was wondering if anyone might know what the bachelor housing in Rakah looks like. Also, what is the current situation regarding the housing shortage? Are many people ending up off camp as a result? Any information would be greatly appreciated - many thanks in advance!

All houses on Rakah are the same. 2500 sq ft, 5 bath places for families as far as I know.
I had heard there are plans of using some units as bachelor accommodation for sharers. This is gossip so I don't know where it originated or how much truth there is to it. I have no idea what they would be offering bachelors.
As far as I know, there are no singles at the moment. The camp has around 400 kids in around 250 families.

Maursh, thanks for the reply!
Sharers  - the mere mention of the word sends shivers down my spine. Let's hope the gossip never becomes reality.

There is a lot of building work going onsite since all the villas needed to be renovated. They could be doing anything including conversions to flats etc, I just don't know.
However, I will counter this by saying you are talking about something temporary and I would have thought sharing is a great way to meet people and settle in, so personally it wouldn't put me off, if only for a couple of months. The houses are big, everyone would have their own double bedroom and bathroom!

Maursh, thank you for the reply and for sharing the information you've got.
I hear what you're saying about the benefits of sharing. I love meeting new people, but when it comes to housing, I prefer to live on my own. As you say, however, this is speculation and if true, simply temporary.
Also, thanks for the Facebook link you posted in another thread with pictures of Rakah.
