I wonder how this new tower will work with transporting kids to/from school.

I made some friends that are also moving to KSA and the very last day when they were flying to Damman received an email changing housing from Rakkah to the tower mentioned in this thread.
My family and I will be arriving in Damman July 1 st and also were promised DLC camp but now you have to doubt as things are changed at any moment.
Hopefully the tower has most of the amenities that the camps have.

GroveWanderer, So Can I say GC14 starts with 80 and GC15 with 95 points? The 18 points per year are the same for different GCs?
Thank you M

MissingSki,
Yes, the 18 points per year of service is regardless of grade codes. Locals may have a different point system though ....

Has anyone heard about how the amenities work here? Do we know any specifics about who is being placed here (GC's, nationalities, work role, etc)? How does school transportation work for the kids? Is there a commissary? What is the security like?
My passport came back stamped on Friday and I'll be talking with my relocation advisor tomorrow regarding departure dates and housing. If this place doesn't have all of the same amenities as the other compounds it'll likely be a deal breaker for us. My wife is giving up enough for this opportunity but being trapped in an apartment every day could be disastrous.
If my wife has to have her abaya on to walk out the front door of our apartment this could very well be the end of the road for us.

MissingSki, Not quite - GC 14 is indeed 80 points but a GC 15 starts with 100 points. From GC 14 upwards, the points go in increments of 20 points per GC.

I was having second thoughs about coming bachelor and not trying harder to convice my wife to come. When she did her own research and told me situation there wasn't so clear I told her she was overreacting but let it that way. Thank I accepted the agreement of her staying with my son, things seems pretty hard right now over there with the uncertainty, I can take anything, but I would hate myself if they had to face an uncomfortable situation

Well, Dhahran Towers looks very luxurious to me! No one is going out very much during the day in 45C heat anyway and, as oft said, women do not have to wear an abaya, just cover up (which you want to do to keep out of the sun!)
Furthermore, you are in walking distance of shops, supermarkets, restaurants etc. It is possible to meet people, find connections even in far flung corners of Khobar. You will meet people through work and you will put your wife in contact with theirs. Happens all the time here - women held each other out here.
The thing is that no one is "guaranteed" a particular accommodation until they set foot here. A year ago people here who were "promised" Dhahran, found themselves in Rakah on arrival and thought themselves hard done by. Twelve months on there is a scramble to get into Rakah. Read early posts on how "bleak" it was but now many residents on Rakah wouldn't move to Dhahran if you paid them.

Nice try to reassure, but like the others if that transpired for me I would not be coming. My wife's life and we'll being means too much.

I have just stared a new post about Dhahran Towers. My husband has been there for one week now and so far the experience has been nothing but positive. We are both happy to answer questions and assure anyone who might be moving there that we will build an Aramco community at the Tower! We look forward to meeting you.

During our medical and orientation in Houston yesterday, we were told that the tower and another property were being leased for 5 years because of lack of space on camp but that there are plans in place for 1000 new units in Dhahran compound to be built as well as a brand new compound right on the outside... so down the road... people will be moving back into camps. Patience is key as they are expending their operation and more people are coming in.
