Hi,
I will be joining Saudi Aramco probably in summer, I will be working as a Reservoir Engineer for the reservoir management department. I would like to know from colleagues already over there what are the typical descriptions for this role in Aramco. Also the software that are used for PTA, Mat balance, prod data base, etc. You can PM and I am not looking for sensible info, just a general description and generic info that I might be able to search over the internet but would like to have from first hand. Thanks!

You will be responsible for the operation of the wells during drilling or workover of the wells. You will be the one who needs decide where you will want to drill the next well and also come up with the well program (what kind of tubing you want to use, what kind of logging program you want to run and where you want to complete the well and if you need acidization or stimulation for the completion of the wells)
You will also be responsible in making the call for the TD of the well. You will work closely with the Petrophysicist (who will assist you in the logging program and also assist you in where you want to perf/complete the well), you will also need to work closely with the Drilling Engineers who will ask for your decision when they have issues with the well. You will also need to work closely with the Field Geologist/Geophysicist as they will prepare the WAP.
On top of that, you will be responsible to monitor the studies part of your field. If there is an Integrated Study or Simulation modeling work being conducted on your field, you will be responsible in providing the necessary production data to the team. Material Balance and also PTA ysis will be needed for the study and you will be the person providing this information. You are also responsible for the PVT ysis of your wells so all PVT datasets etc most come from your side. Water ysis report etc used in the simulation study must also be reviewed and provided by you.
Once the study is in the prediction phase, most of the input for the field development must be led by you.
So in short, you will be responsible for both the operation side and the study side of your field.
