Thanks for accepting me to the forum. We were ecstatic to receive an offer from Aramco for my hubby via email yesterday!!! He will be based in Dharhan. There was no indicating as to which compound we will live in. My concern is that our daughter is currently attending a British school. I have scrolled through the forum and found out that there are 2 British schools. The one forum indicated that some of the children may have to catch a taxi to school? We were told all transport to schools were provided. They were even joking about buying one of the old Aramco buses and using that.. was a bit of joke I think We would appreciate any advise on subjects of: Schooling - British Compound life - pics would be appreciated Are all the houses furnished? Dress Code and Driving as a female - in and out the compound - dress code at the pools or walking around the compound You can pm me if prefered. Thanks

Transportation is provided to the International Schools Group British School near DHA. You must provide your own transportation to the BISAK British school.
All Aramco houses are furnished with Aramco furniture. In Rakah, the furniture is rent free as long as you live there. You can replace it with your own if you want to. In DHA, the furniture is free for 3 months or until your shipment has arrived, then you pay rental fees for each piece of Aramco furniture you keep. The fees aren't that much, but most people in DHA replace it with their own furniture over time. You can keep as many pieces as you need at any given time.
Women can drive on Aramco compounds only. Your husband can drive you off the compound if he is comfortable doing so, or take the provided shopping buses, or take a taxi or private driver (found by word of mouth once you are here).
On the residential compound you can dress how you'd like - shorts (not short shorts - mid thigh or longer works well), tank tops, sleeveless are acceptable. Transparent clothing not good. Going into the Al Majamma building in DHA or the Core area where the offices are, requires a more conservative dress.
One piece conservative swimsuits are required at the family pools.
Work out clothes are required at the ladies gym and can be whatever you are comfortable wearing.
Going into town - Khobar, you need to be conservatively dressed with loose clothing, elbows and hips covered, long pants or dress - no tight fitting clothes. Or you can wear an abaya. Ladies do both, depending on their comfort level in the local community. Both are acceptable. Other local communities, women wear an abaya. You do not need to cover your head unless you want to.

Yes, a female can go to Bahrain alone with a taxi driver or a private driver who have Bahrain visas. They are both available.
